Lexus Apple CarPlay

Apple CarPlay is a smarter, safer way to use your iPhone while you drive. Apple CarPlay takes the things you want to do with your iPhone while driving and puts them right on your vehicle’s built-in display. You can get directions, make calls, send and receive messages, and listen to music, all in a way that allows you to stay focused on the road.

Apple CarPlay availability varies by iPhone model and iOS version. Please visit Apple’s website for the latest list of compatible iPhones.

Apple CarPlay is a standard feature on select models. Please note that Apple CarPlay uses your iPhone data plan, which may result in data costs.

To complete the first-time setup, make sure that your vehicle is in Park mode.
Before beginning, make sure that CarPlay and Siri are both enabled on your iPhone. Siri can be activated through Settings > Siri & Search, while Apple CarPlay settings are located at Settings > General > CarPlay

To establish a wired Apple CarPlay connection with a USB cable:

• Connect your iPhone to your vehicle using an Apple certified USB cable
• On your vehicle’s multimedia system select “Yes” when asked if you would like to use CarPlay. You will then be prompted on your iPhone asking if you would like to use CarPlay. Select “Yes”
• Apple CarPlay is launched. You can now use compatible apps within CarPlay to get directions, make calls, send/receive messages or listen to your favorite music.

To establish wireless Apple CarPlay connection:

• Make sure that Bluetooth on your iPhone is turned on
• On your vehicle’s multimedia screen, select Settings (gear icon) > ‘Bluetooth & devices’ > ‘Add another device’ > ‘Search for devices’
• Select your iPhone name as it appears on the list of discovered Bluetooth devices
• Respond to the prompts on the multimedia screen to complete pairing your iPhone. Select “Yes” when asked if you would like to enable CarPlay.
• You will be prompted on your iPhone asking if you would like to use CarPlay, select “use”
• Apple CarPlay is launched. You can now use the compatible apps within CarPlay to get directions, make calls, send/receive messages or listen to your favorite music apps.

You can initiate Siri either by making a long press on the Push-to-Talk (PTT) button on the heads-up display, or by simply saying “Hey Siri”

You can use Apple CarPlay wirelessly on select model year 2022 and newer vehicles. You can review your vehicle’s features and capabilities from within the Lexus app or refer to your Owner’s Manual. To use Apple CarPlay over a wired connection, it is recommended to use an Apple-certified USB cable.

If your vehicle supports wireless Apple CarPlay, you can opt to set your vehicle to use your iPhone either for Apple CarPlay or for calls & messages. Select Settings (gear icon), ‘Bluetooth & devices’, then select the name of your iPhone:

• Turn the ‘Use for Apple CarPlay’ toggle on to use your iPhone for Apple CarPlay
• Turn the ‘Use for phone’ toggle on if you want to use your iPhone for calls and messages instead

Each individual app must be downloaded from the App Store onto the iPhone. Upon the next CarPlay connection, the downloaded app will be displayed on the Apple CarPlay home screen.

In order to switch to your vehicles multimedia system from Apple CarPlay, go to the Apple CarPlay home screen and select the Lexus icon. To go back to Apple CarPlay from your vehicles multimedia system, simply select the CarPlay icon on the top left corner of your display.

You can connect a second phone using a USB cable when wireless Apple CarPlay is running. Your USB-connected phone will start charging without interrupting CarPlay running wirelessly through your first phone. If you wish to use CarPlay on the USB-connected phone instead, select Settings (gear icon), Bluetooth & devices, and the switch button under the Current Apple CarPlay device section. Then choose your USB-connected phone from the list that appears.

The volume level of Navigation guidance for map applications on Apple CarPlay is separate from other audio sources playing on your vehicle’s Multimedia System. To adjust the Navigation Guidance Volume level, switch to your vehicle’s multimedia system from Apple CarPlay by selecting the Lexus icon on Apple CarPlay home screen. Then select Settings (gear icon), ‘Voice settings’, and use the ‘Navigation Guidance Volume’ slider bar. Alternatively, turning the [PWR – VOL] knob while a navigation guidance prompt is audible will adjust the Navigation Guidance Volume.

On your iPhone go to Settings > General > CarPlay, choose your vehicle on the list that appears and rearrange your apps to your convenience.
